Pan Filter applications

With a lifespan of up to seven years, Actionlaser’s laser-drilled, micro-perforated metal screens are a superior alternative to cloth screens for the final pan filter washing and dewatering stages of the alumina, iron ore, nickel, cobalt and other materials extraction processes. Additional advantages are greater operational flexibility,reduced downtime and much-enhanced safety – due to elimination of frequent, arduous cloth changes.

LaserScreen-enabled Pan Filters have been designated “Best Practice operation” within Alcoa’s alumina refineries, since the early 2000s.

At BHP’s Nickel West refinery in Western Australia, LaserScreens fitted to the final stage pan filters have been delivering improved nickel powder yield with reduced downtime, for over 20 years.

Adapting to your requirements, we can provide pan filter filtration screens with thickness from 0.20mm to 0.45mm; tapered slot width from 45µm to 200 µm, or tapered round hole diameter from 50µm to 300µm; and Percentage Open Area from 10% to 20%. To eliminate welded installation on larger pan filters, we are developing a mechanically fitted LaserScreen design.
